The word species is not found anywhere in the Hebrew or Greek Scriptures.
The word used in the Creation Account in Genesis, Chapters 1 and 2 is lmino in Hebrew or kind. Kind is defined by Biblical Creationists as being in the area of family or order; a much higher order if not at the top. The sub-category species are below family or order and the word specie should not be used universally. Species can in many cases be capable to crossbreed from one to another but kinds cannot. An example is a dog cannot crossbreed with a cat. There is no such thing as a cog or a dat. That makes a dog one kind and a cat another kind.
Many people randomly and casually misuse the word species when they are referring to many types of living things. They should refer to them as kinds (or types). During a program on television, the host was talking about the quantity of animals he saw in Tanzania as a large number of species. The problem with that is he mentioned elephants, zebras, cats, buffaloes etc. and the list goes on. None of these animals are capable of crossbreeding. Why not use the word variety, types or kinds of animals? A particular type of zebra was shown and was mentioned as being different than those found in other countries of Africa. All those types of zebras can be properly referred to as other species if desired as long as talking about zebras (and he did mention the word specie again – for the zebras).
Many doubt the account of the Global Flood; from denying that it was Global and only local, that the ark could not have held 2 of every specie (there's that word again being used by secularists), to the account not having existed at all or was a myth. The word used in Genesis 6-9 is kind as I explained in the previous paragraphs. Some estimates have stated that there were only a few thousand kinds. The ark was enormous. Read Genesis 6 for the dimensions and if you read the word cubit, multiply it times approximately 18 inches to arrive at its dimensions in feet. All the animals, all the provisions, all of Noah's family (his wife and three sons) had plenty of room. In fact, some have stated that there could have been some room left for more animals and some of the people who were to perish. Many articles on the ark are available at Answers in Genesis.
Many are very familiar with the word species. Evolutionists would have us believe that all living things came from one source, such as “molecules to man.” Or that everything evolved from a “primordial soup.” Even Darwin’s book was titled, “Origin of Species.” There was no regard as to the idea of separate and distinct categories called kinds of living things.
The order of creation, as spelled out in Genesis, Chapter 1, is, first vegetation on day 3, second fish, sea creatures and birds on day 5 and then animals and man on day 6. No common origin of creation exists among these different events during the six days of creation of living things. God explicitly spelled out each category of created living things when he used the word kind. He never said species as some versions of the Bible say; those that have been improperly translated.
**The word species especially should never be used to refer to mankind.**
Furthermore, even the word race cannot be appropriately applied to humans. We all descended from one single set of parents, Adam and Eve. We are not divided into races. I don’t even like to use the title, “the human race.” See the page in this website called "Races - Are They for Real?"
